Ellis Ann is Five Months Old!

What another wonderful month with you sweet girl! The time is just passing by so quickly. You’re playing with your toys now, and starting to play with Graham more and more. It is just the sweetest to watch you two together. You moved in to your own room this month which was a much needed change for us all. You did pretty well adjusting to your crib, but still no strict schedule yet. You’re making lots of good noises now, still making the growling noise, and tickling your tummy makes you laugh with joy. Hearing you and your brother laugh is one of the best sounds I’ve ever heard. We had a wonderful girls day in Chapel Hill! We’ve spent lots of time outside soaking up the last of summer. You’re getting more and more comfortable in the water at the pool. We are hoping to start you in swim lessons soon. We celebrated Mommy’s 38th birthday! Mina and Pop Pop have officially moved to town and we are loving being able to see them all the time now! Unfortunately we’ve had more daycare germs this month, you had a bad cough and your first ear infection. You handled it like a champ though and really weren’t fussy or anything at all. We love you so big sweet girl!!

Wedding Sunset in Jamaica

unedited sneak peek of the most epic sunset after the wedding

Time for a quick update on life lately. It has turned to full blown fall overnight. If you saw my Instagram post last week you know that I am a summer girl! I live for summer days, flip flops, and sunshine. So while the rest of the world is buying pumpkin spice everything, I’m over here daydreaming about summer.

I can hardly believe that we were married in Jamaica almost a month ago. I cannot wait to share more! I loved our photographer that we worked with; there is a 6-14 week turnaround for the photos so we are anxiously awaiting them! We had the most epic sunset the night of the wedding that I know is going to make for great photos. I’ll probably overshare once we get them! We got married at the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall and then went to Negril for a short mini moon at the Rockhouse Hotel.

Since coming home life has been all kinds of crazy. In an effort to get in the fall spirit we took a road trip into the Blue Ridge Mountains. The leaves had just started turning, and it was a perfect day trip. Seeing the leaves start to change does give me all the #fallfeels. We visited the Blue Ridge Music Center for the first time. There is a small museum here that explains the history of mountain music, free music outdoors, and a very nice hiking trail. We really enjoyed it. It is right on the Blue Ridge Parkway so the drive in is beautiful as well. On the way home we stopped at nearby Round Peak Vineyards for a glass of wine and to take in the view. Our final stop was at Skull Camp Brewing for a late lunch. Overall the perfect fall day trip.

We leave for our actual honeymoon in Paris in a few weeks and would love any and all recommendations you have on visiting the City of Lights!

Life Lately

Happy 2019 friends! I may be a month late on the well wishes, but I hope your year is off to a great start. It’s been a minute since I checked in. Full time job, MBA school, and trying to be a real human (you know the ones with friends and a family and a social life) gets hard sometimes. I started this blog for fun to keep track of all my travels. So with all the other stresses of life it’s nice to have a creative outlet I enjoy, but not pressure myself for it to be anymore than just that!

We kicked off 2019 in Hawaii, and it was a wonderful weak full of sunshine, palm trees, umbrella drinks, and sunsets. I truly cannot think of a better way to start the year. We arrived home to full blown winter, and are now just over here counting down the days until summer. 2019 is shaping up to be full of lots of adventures, so stay tuned!

2018 was a good year. We got engaged, and bought a house which we moved into. I survived what was possibly the worst semester of torture in MBA school. We had the opportunity to visit several places for the first time and to spend plenty of time in some of our favorite places.

We are now fully in the thick of wedding planning which I can’t wait to share more about. Hint it’s in a really fun place. I’m in my last semester of MBA school and it’s starting to feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I’m heading to Prague in a few weeks, which really snuck up on me but I could not be more excited about. So bring it on 2019 we’re ready for ya!

Stay tuned for more on the engagement, the trip to Hawaii, and all the fun 2019 has in store!
